I Help Data-Driven Strategy Groups and Consulting Firms Upgrade Their Team Performance
I have been teaching people consulting skills since 2014 and am obsessed with getting better at teaching people the skills that I learned at top consulting firms like McKinsey and BCG.
Virtual or in-person experiences led by Paul. Topics include: consulting skills, problem-solving process, high-performance culture, slide design & presentations, hypothesis-first thinking
A multi-week approach for teams (typically 8-12 people) with live workshops, one-on-one coaching, and overall theme alignment with your company's strategy. Based on the "cohort-based-course" approach.
Creator & Facilitator: Paul Millerd
Paul is a former consultant who worked full-time in strategy consulting from 2008 to 2017 including McKinsey & Company and Boston Consulting Group and now works as a freelance consultant, content creator, and entrepreneur.
I Have Been Delivering Virtual Trainings Since 2017.
My Goal? Avoid Boring Zoom Lectures Using a "Flip The Classroom" Approach:
Here's my belief: Zoom fatigue is the result of meetings that shouldn't happen in the first place and training that could be consumed offline.
The best way to use virtual meetings is for collaborative problem-solving. Our approach is to use weekly lectures for short recaps of concepts, breakout sessions, practicing, roleplaying, and giving each other feedback.
Bloom's Taxonomy of learning is a good way of thinking about this. Most companies spend all their "learning" efforts at the bottom of the pyramid. At StrategyU, we focus on the top of the pyramid and think about designing the incentives such that people are going to be motivated to focus on "remembering" and "understanding" on their own time.
Option #1: Virtual or In-Person Workshops
I work closely with companies to design and delivery entertaining, fast-paced, actionable workshops that help team improve
Workshop topics include
Executive Pitches to CEOs & Boards, Structured problem-solving & synthesizing information, High-performance insight-driven work, Principles for high-performance consulting teams and culture, Slide design & powerpoint storytelling
Former BCG Consultant
"Paul ran a virtual workshop for our marketing team, focused on helping us improve how we communicate and present information to various internal and external stakeholders. Learning principles from strategy consulting like pyramid principle, slide design, storytelling, and feedback have given our team a shared language and more confidence to share ideas via PowerPoint. I highly recommend having Paul work with your team!"
- Jodi, Former BCG Consultant, Sr. Director Marketing
Our Company recently contracted Paul with StrategyU to provide a two-hour ‘Think Like a Strategy Consultant’ workshop to top leaders across our organization and it was a total success with an onslaught of positive reviews and comments. Paul is a top-notch communicator and his approach and delivery of the principles and best practices truly resonated with the entire audience and kept them engaged. The content was simplified, but extremely informative which allowed participants to easily be able to grasp and came away with more confidence and ideas on how to immediately apply in their jobs. Bottom line: ‘Great Work is Possible’ and Paul presented valuable insights, approaches and tools on the process that will enhance our ability to provide great work…
